Position Statement
I have been a dedicated InspirASIAN officer for the past six years, driven by a passion to create a safe space where the AANHPI community feels empowered, can thrive, and take pride in being their authentic selves anywhere. During my interim year as National Vice President, I have guided the executive board in establishing a project management structure to ensure consistency in saving and transferring knowledge.
My journey with InspirASIAN began in November 2018 when I helped establish the InspirASIAN Minnesota Chapter, serving as Vice President. This role has been a phenomenal experience, allowing me to advocate for my core beliefs and passion for Diversity & Inclusion in both personal lives and the workforce. I am actively engaged in promoting the InspirASIAN vision to members, non-members, friends, and family as we work together to fundraise for student scholarships.
As the past President of the Minnesota Chapter, I have collaborated and planned senior leadership meetings with other Employee Groups (EGs) to promote our mission and benefits to the community. My leadership skills have enabled me to empower members and officers to step outside their comfort zones and lead with confidence, spearheading successful fundraising events.
Plans & Proposals
If elected as National President, I will leverage my leadership experience and strategic insight to strengthen engagement across our national calls. I will encourage chapters to share best practices and celebrate accomplishments, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
In addition, I will lead the strategic business impact by partnering with key business unit, we will co-develop initiatives that improves operational efficiency; amplifying InspirASIAN’s value across the enterprise. We will enhance our development programs to increase networking and business acumen to empower our members and boost engagement.
Lastly, to deepen our community footprint, I will identify a strategic partner to strengthen collaboration and organize volunteer opportunities aligned with our mission. Together, we will elevate the InspirASIAN brand—internally by deepening member engagement and fostering leadership development, and externally by expanding our social media reach, amplifying our voice in the community, and securing new sponsors to grow our student scholarship program. Through these efforts, we will drive lasting changes across our organization and make a powerful, visible impact beyond it.
Background & Credentials
As National Vice President- January 2024 – Present
- Hosted a fireside chat featuring two AT&T officers and an Emmy Award-winning author, focused on leadership skills and the importance of self-advocacy while staying authentic in the workplace.
- Spearheaded the Micronesia Medical Mission campaign, raising $9,519 to purchase medical supplies and over-the-counter medications for shipment to the islands of Micronesia.
- Led the inaugural Employee Group’s Workshop on Bridging Faiths, Cultures, & Generations with Emotional Intelligence during the 2024 EG Conference, with 195 participants.
- Served as emcee for the 2023 Asian Chamber of Texas (ACT) event held at AT&T’s theater.
- Directed the creation of presentation decks for executive advisors’ meetings.
- Moderated the InspirASIAN Historian Webinar, showcasing the positive influence and impact of InspirASIAN on AT&T and the community over its 148-year history.
- Managed and emceed the 3rd AT&T Discovery AANHPI Heritage celebration, coordinating 14 unique performances and crafting scripts to ensure a smooth event.
As National Marketing and Communications Officer- February 2023 – December 2023
- Collaborated with InspirASIAN President, Deniz Kustu, to create a Syria-Turkiye support video during the earthquakes, involving extensive video editing, recording, and publishing on InspirASIAN’s YouTube account.
- Created and distributed monthly national newsletters to over 8,000 members.
- Produced social media posts that garnered 7,400+ impressions and 800+ clicks on LinkedIn.
- Produced and edited two videos to showcase what AANHPI Heritage Month means to our members.
As National Secretary (interim)- June 2021- January 2023
- Awarded one $1,000 student scholarship in June.
- Partnered with former InspirASIAN President, Victor Kwong, and presented the Hmong history to business units.
- Created and executed a presentation to the Most of World Credit & Collections Director and her team educating about my journey to America and who are Hmong people in honor of Asian Heritage’s Month.
- Collaborated with The NETwork in The Unity Jam celebrating Asian Heritage Month by providing InspirASIAN details creating a cohesive session.
- Spearheaded the Mountain States Chapter’s Asian Heritage Month engaging the Mesa, AZ call center by emailing weekly, “Did You Know Facts,” educating about different Asian ethnicity groups such as Hmong, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Laotians, and Filipino. In addition, we attached a quick food recipe from each culture for people to try. There was a weekly winner drawn to win a fabulous prize.
- Hosted monthly InspirASIAN Executive meetings and National Board meetings while sending minutes to teams in a timely manner.
- As a Diversity & Inclusion ambassador, I hosted 6 DINE sessions in 2021 with the management team in the Mesa Call Center to promote better collaboration.

- During the peak of the pandemic, Lao led the MN Chapter to partner with Believe Twin Cities and created 1,000 Care Kits (shampoo, soap, lotion, toothpaste, and toothbrush) in May 2020 and then donated to a homeless shelter. We recruited 29 AT&T volunteers with 67 total logged volunteer hours.
- Made 100 face masks and donated to a local hospital raising a total of $500.00 ($5/face mask). Together, we logged 100 volunteer hours sewing face masks!
- Celebrated the Chinese New Year with a 10-course meal at a restaurant with 34 volunteers, raising a total $850.00, and 60 logged volunteer hours.
- Awarded one $1,000 student scholarship in June.
Vice President MN Chapter – November 2018- December 2019

- Increased overall membership by 23% within a 4-month period.
- Collaborated with Cricket Wireless to sponsor InspirASIAN in our inaugural Dragon Boat Race and networked with the Dragon Boat Organization to recruit paddlers. Engaged 12 AT&T employees resulting in 108 hours of logged volunteer time and raising over $350.00 toward student scholarship funds.
- Spearheaded Asian Heritage Month by collaborating with the Minneapolis Diversity & Inclusion Committee to introduce the Hmong and Chinese cultures with an interactive Chinese Zodiac activity. InspirASIAN members sold paper cranes which raised $140.00, bringing the event to a successful conclusion.

Over the past three years at AT&T, I have continually developed my leadership, communication, and project management skills through impactful roles such as serving as Membership Director for LEAGUE and as a leader within the Technology Development Program, particularly in the Culture and Inclusion space. My experience includes building and sustaining vibrant member communities, developing and executing strategies for outreach, onboarding, and retention, and leveraging technology platforms to maintain accurate membership records. I have organized national events, such as Pride Month celebrations, and fostered cross-functional relationships with teams across AT&T, which has provided me with valuable insight into how to drive engagement and advocate for inclusion.
These roles have equipped me with a robust network and a deep understanding of the importance of collaboration, representation, and support. As a first-generation immigrant from the Philippines, I am passionate about creating spaces where every voice is valued and empowered. Background & Credentials
I began my journey with InspirASIAN as a founding board member of the Minnesota chapter in 2020, serving as Treasurer. After relocating to Arizona, I continued my leadership as Treasurer for the Mountain States chapter (2021–2022). My commitment to advancing inclusion led to my appointment as Membership & Engagement Officer for InspirASIAN National (2022–2024), where I helped unify efforts across chapters and broaden our reach.
In May 2024, I spearheaded the creation of the InspirASIAN At-Large chapter, designed to serve communities and regions without local hubs. This initiative enabled national-scale programming, including Open Mic events and a major workplace transformation event in El Segundo, CA—all while based in Texas.
In April 2025, I was honored to be appointed National VP of Operations. In this role, I’ve focused on streamlining cultural and inclusion efforts, establishing operational committees, and collaborating with the Secretary and senior advisor to reposition our bylaws for long-term sustainability. Additionally, I’ve served as Vice Program Chair of the National Scholarship Committee since 2022, overseeing the judging and award process to ensure fairness and impact.
